Truck Hub Assemblies Recommended Instructions for Installing Replacement Hubs

These instructions are based on best practice as recommended by OE manufacturers

• All new Hub units should have Seals, O-Rings and locking Rings replaced

• Incorrectly fitted locking rings may cause leakage of oil and will accelerate bearing wear leading to potential bearing failure.

• It is recommended that new Oil Seals are fitted. Damaged oil seals may cause leakages.

• Replacement of the oil discharge valve on the differential is also recommended. Oil leakage from the hub unit may occur if the discharge valve is blocked or dirty

• Please be aware that the old hub unit may have caused damage to the driveshaft. We advise thorough inspection of the driveshaft and replacement where damage or wear is evident

• Inspection of the Brake disc or Brake drum mating surface should be carried out to ensure that all surfaces are free from grease/lubricants and that no damage as occurred

• We always advise fitting of new Wheel bolts/studs and nuts when replacing hub assemblies

• Care should be taken to follow manufacturer’s guidelines with regards to torque settings for Axle nuts. Again all parts should be inspected for damage and replaced if necessary • If the Brake discs are secured to the hub with locking plates, it is important to ensure that all locking plates can provide suitable ventilation to the Disc/Hubs. Failure to provide adequate ventilation may cause overheating and premature bearing failure • We do not advise the use of Re-machined/engineered Brake Discs. It is recommended that new units are fitted
